What they didn’t say was that they had chased him, beat him, and left him for dead in a dumpster. His body was found hours later, bruised and covered in dog bites. The injuries Justin sustained didn’t match the police’s story, and photos showed clear signs of brutality. Just a week earlier, Justin had been pulled over and beaten by the same police department.
 
When Justin’s grandmother and mother searched for his car that night, they were pulled over at gunpoint. The police, instead of helping, taunted them, saying, “When we find Justin, we’ll let the dogs eat him alive.” This is the reality his family has faced—lies, cover-ups, and a blatant lack of accountability.
 
Families Supporting Families Against Police Violence, founded by Justin’s fiancée Toshira, is dedicated to bringing these stories to light and supporting other families who’ve lost loved ones to police violence.
