Paul Castaway Remember My Name - Recycled Eco-Friendly Premium Unisex T-Shirt
Paul Castaway was shot and killed by Denver police on July 12th, 2015.
Paul, a member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, struggled with schizophrenia. On the day he was killed, his mother reluctantly called 911, hoping for medical help during one of Paul’s episodes. Instead, the police chased him into a trailer park and down a dead-end road. Paul wasn’t a threat to anyone but himself—he held a knife to his own neck. But that didn’t stop the police from shooting him three times. His dying words: “What’s wrong with you guys?”
Despite the witnesses and his mother telling the police he was no threat, they claimed they feared for their lives. Afterward, no officer was held accountable. The Denver Police Department conducted an internal investigation and found no wrongdoing. Just like that, Paul became another name added to the long list of those failed by a system that wasn’t built to protect them.
Paul’s family refuses to let his story be forgotten. His brother Gabriel and sister-in-law Tonia created the foundation “Remember My Name” in his honor, supporting Native families and others facing similar tragedies. Wearing this shirt helps raise awareness of the injustice faced by Paul and so many others like him.
All profits from this shirt go to "Remember My Name." By wearing it, you’re keeping Paul’s memory alive and helping to push back against the injustice that took his life.
